Use appropriate party structures to address concerns – NPP warns members

Ahead of the election of the presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 polls, leadership has warned supporters of the various aspirants against breaching party protocols.

General Secretary, John Boadu during a press briefing Friday January 28at the party’s headquarters in Accra cautioned camps of the flagbearer hopefuls against resorting to the media to channel their grievances rather than the party’s structure.

“Provisions of the NPP constitution expressly provides clear procedure for handling alleged breaches and non-enforcement of its content as the case may be. We wish to encourage our members who feel aggrieved one way or the other regarding the enforcement of the code of conducts.

“Particularly as it relates to the presidential primaries to take advantage of the express provision in the code and petition the national complaints committee for the necessary redress, rather than holding press conferences and accusing the party of selectivity,” John Boadu noted.

His statement comes on the back of recent allegations by pro-Alan Kyerematen group’s of discriminatory application of the party’s code of conduct vis-à-vis its internal race for a presidential aspirant.

The party further outlined the agenda for the party’s calendar year which will see aspiring members take up leadership positions with the tenure of the incumbent elapsing.

July 14 to July 16 have been set to elect new National executives for the party while April 22 to 24 will be for the constituency election and 20th to 22nd of May for regional elections.

Apirants of National Chairmanship position will have to pay GHC20,000 for the nomination forms.
Vice Chairperson aspirants are to pick up the forms for GHC 15,000, and GHS10,000 for the General Secretary position.

Aspirants for the remaining positions will pick the forms for GHC8000.
The elections which will be held in Accra will be supervised by the party’s National Elections Committee (NEC).
