Some polling station executives and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the Navrongo constituency in the Upper East Region have sent a strong warning to the Upper East Regional Chairman of the party, Anthony Anamoo.

They have alleged the chairman is shielding members who campaigned against the party in the 2020 elections and is aiding them to take up executive positions in the polling station elections. The members have vowed to resist the regional Chairman’s attempts to place an injunction on 10 out of the 35 electoral areas.

The Navrongo Central constituency is one the constituencies in the country that have concluded its polling station executive elections though 10 out of the 35 polling stations have petitioned the regional executive council over various infractions.

According to them, an attempt by the Upper East Regional Chairman to place an injunction on 10 polling stations is violation to the party’s constitution.

The concerned members in a press conference alleged that persons who put up anti-party character have come back to take up executive positions, a conduct they will not countenance.

“Some of these people even admitted during the open vetting sessions at the various polling stations that, they left the party for NDC, PPP etc but returned after the elections. The NPP is not a dumping ground and so if anyone left the party and has decided to return to the party, you are welcome, but you have to show commitment to the party before you can be entrusted with an executive position as stated by the general secretary of the party” spokesperson for the group, Mohammed Agao, said.

They presented what they said is evidence of some party members campaigning against the party.

The concerned members cautioned the regional executives to stay away from the constituency matters and leave them to deal with their own situation.

“Our dear regional executives, you can make or unmake the Navrongo central constituency through your actions and inactions. You must act properly and the patriots await you”, they said.
