The Founder of AMEND Foundation and advocate for Road Safety has called on the political Leadership to immediately fix the unsafe Noberkaw – Sankore Road.

Without mincing his words, the Road Safety Advocate ( Hon. Ing. Kobby Amoaa-Mensah) who is also a renowned International Independent Road Safety Auditor states that:’ This stretch of road will not pass a Road Safety Audit and it is paramount that the major safety risks on this road are fixed.’

There have been numerous accidents on this road and it has been professionally ascertained that most of the accidents are arising as a result of the design parameters of the road. These causes of accidents include compromised Horizontal and vertical alignments (some at crests) and non bound road construction materials which serve as a skidding hazard. The lack of basic road signs to warn and guide drivers of impending deviations from design standards are basic engineering oversights which are contrary to engineering best practices.

In our interview with some community members, some complained bitterly about the dangers encountered on the his particular road on a daily basis.

Some have accused the contractor of shoddy work and are pointing fingers at the political leadership for failing to ensure that the right thing is done. Some members within the constituency are saying that some leaders have been compromised by the contractor hence their inability to bring the contractor to order. What do they mean by this? There is widespread.

Hon. Ing. Kobby Amoa-Mensah is also extending his commiserations to the affected families and has called for an immediate Road Safety Audit to be carried out on the Road. Furthermore he called on benevolent organisations to come to the aid of the families.

He reiterated the need to take road safety serious and hold people liable for deaths on our roads.

The deaths on our roads has become so rampant that we are dangerously becoming accustomed to it as a norm unfortunately according to Hon. Ing. Kobby Amoa-Mensah
