WAFA SC on Saturday afternoon defeated Ghana Premier League Champions Hearts of Oak 1-0 to finish third to ensure the team pockets a sum of GHS80,000.

The Sogakope-based outfit since the start of the 2020/2021 Ghanaian top-flight league has impressed after staging a very good challenge.

Although the team’s strength did not merit the league title, a strong finish from the side has proven crucial.

Today at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena, WAFA SC hosted Hearts of Oak in the final game of the Ghana Premier League season.

In a game that proved tough for either side, Atte Yousifou scored from a direct free-kick in the 64th minute to power WAFA SC to defeat Hearts of Oak 1-0 at the end of the 90 minutes.

The win seals a third spot finish for WAFA SC on the Ghana Premier League table. As a result, the team is receiving a sum of GHS80,000 as their prize.

For Champions Hearts of Oak, the team is entitled to GHS250,000 and will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season.
