Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Nana Oduro Sarfo has insisted that his outfit cannot push for CK Akonnor’s unpaid salary to be settled.

Akonnor, 47, who was appointed in 2020 January as the head coach of the Black Stars has only received five months salary since taking up the job from Kwasi Appiah.

Speaking to journalists via Zoom over the weekend, the former Asante Kotoko and Dreams FC gaffer disclosed that he has not received his arrears.

But Oduro Sarfo speaking in an interview said the country’s football governing body cannot push for the arrears to be paid.

He insisted that it will be a miss-placed priority to claim the FA have not helped the gaffer out.

“Ghana Football Association has nothing to do with C.K Akonnor’s salary,” Sarfo told Kumasi based Otec FM.

“We (GFA) cannot push for his salary because he (C.K) has a contract with the Sports Ministry.

“It will be a misplaced priority to say that the FA has not paid him [C.K Akonnor],” he added.

CK Akonnor is expected to lead Ghana for their 2022 World Cup qualifiers scheduled for September.

The Black Stars will engage Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Stadium before flying to play South Africa in Johannesburg on September 3 and 6 respectively.
