Former Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah is set to be named as the technical adviser for Asante Kotoko ahead of the 2021/22 Ghana football season.

Appiah who left his role as the head coach for the Black Stars in 2019 is currently working as the head coach of Kenpong Academy.

According to reports, the Chief Executive Officer of the club, Nana Yaw Amponsah and Administrative Manager of the club, Emmanue Dasobere have held talks with the legend of the club to take up the role as technical adviser.

Asante Kotoko, who ended the 2020/21 football season trophyless is putting up a new technical team ahead of the new season.

Nana Yaw Amponsah speaking to Starr FM said the club will welcome Kwesi Appiah any day back to the club.

“Management and the board are discussing whether the coach should stay or not,” the Kotoko CEO stated.

“I can’t confirm or deny. I don’t want to go into that but if at any point in time Kwesi Appiah wants to come to Kotoko, the doors are opened,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Kotoko hierarchy are also on the verge of wrapping up with Prosper Nerteh Ogum who is expected to take up as the new head coach of the club.

Kwesi Appiah rose to become Captain of Asante Kotoko and later the Ghana national team, the Black Stars. He was with the Black Stars for 11 years, winning one African Cup of Nations trophy.

As a coach, Kwesi Appiah led the Ghana Under-23 team, the Black Meteors, to win Gold in the 2012 All Africa Games held in Mozambique.
