Banku Stars in Duayaw Nkwanta has emerged winners of a week-long soccer extravaganza organised by the Member of Parliament for Tano North constituency, Hon. Dr. Freda Prempeh. The week-long competition was aimed at providing a platform for football talents and have fun during this festive season.


Hon. Freda Prempeh was joined by constituency executives, soccer fans, young and old to witness splendid and exciting final match between Adrobaa FC and Banku Stars popular known as BK Stars of Duayaw Nkwanta. Both teams exhibited professionalism, dedication and zeal.

They thrilled spectators who thronged the astroturf park from far and near with exciting football which ended with a goal less draw. They game traveled to a penalty shootout with BK Stars winning 4-3. Unfortunately Adrobaa FC missed one and BK Stars goal keeper made some terrific save. BK Stars took home a trophy for keeps, a set of additional jersey, 2 footballs, Drinks from special ice, biscuits, a cash of ¢2000 and they were decorated with medals, Adrobaa FC, also took home additional set of jersey, football, drinks, biscuits, ¢1500 and also decorated with medals.

Koforidua young Stars and Duayaw Nkwanta plated the curtain raiser, they were also presented with a jersey and football. Best goal keeper award went to Adrobaa FC, top goal scorer went to bk Stars and best player to bk Stars as well, they were presented with cash.


In all, the tournament was fun, exciting and wonderful time. Hon. Dr. Freda Prempeh, is grateful to Foana consult, NLA, Vision sports and Special Ice for supporting the tournament. She thanked all participating teams, professional referees and the spectators for the massive support.

She used the occasion to wish all merry Christmas and advised the youth to stay focused in their career path and talent and also thanked them for their support over the years. She was highly impressed about the zeal, enthusiasm and professional level of play. We look forward to an exciting gala in 2022 .


In a close up interview with the Member of Parliament, she stated that she was motivated and inspired to organize and present the football items to the winners due to the passion she has for football and the need for the youth to use football as a powerful tool to unite. “I am a football fan and wish I could play the way you guys play”.

She was quick to add that, several of such tournaments will be organized to get more of the youth involved to motivate brilliant football who wish to join the national football in near future. “Football could be your profession to earn your daily bread,” she said.
