The opposition NDC is basking in the adulation presented by the seas of negative commentaries from a section of Ghanaians about the National Cathedral.

The funding source of the National Cathedral has become a topical issue in both mainstream media and on social media platforms.

Some Members of Parliament of the National Democratic Congress have raised more than eyebrows in relation to the funding of the building of the Cathedral.

Communicators as well as the top echelons of the National Democratic Congress have had to chastise President Akufo-Addo on the simple reason that some funds of the state have been earmarked for some portions of the edifice.

The 2018 budget contained an item that showed clearly that the state would have to expend some funds to construct the National Cathedral. At the time, it never generated any heated arguments or controversies.

The focus has been the funding source of the project. This begs the question, in the unlikely event that the NDC wins power in 2024, what would happen to the National Cathedral in case this current administration is unable to complete the project?

Will the NDC abandon the construction of the National Cathedral? If they will not, how would they fund the continuation of the project? Would they commit state funds to it or resort to relying on private individuals and the churches?

At this juncture, we would want to know from the NDC what would happen to the Cathedral. Do they support the construction of the National Cathedral at all? We need responses to these. The NDC must come clear on their position on the Cathedral.
