On Friday 9th December, a group of 20 individuals with backgrounds in IT, Agribusiness and Agriculture were gathered to be equiped with essential skills to aid their development in the agriculture sector using technology.

This initiative provided participants with essential skills and knowledge to be able to function as effective Agritech Extension Officers. This module introduced by AMEND Foundation is to help create job opportunities for the youth in farming communities in the use of technology to promote best farming practices and to increase yields for farmers.

The CTO of DigiExt who was the Resource professional for the training workshop impacted practical knowledge based applications to the participants. In his communication to Ahafonews.com, Mr Isaac Osei said ‘The participants had the requisite background and knowledge to work as AgriTech Extension Officers and applauded AMEND Foundation for identifying such well qualified persons to be trained to take job opportunities in the AgriTech industry.’ He explained that, together as one big digital family we are creating some of the most competitive commercial digital mega farms that can afford any technocrat or digital/mechanization that adds value to the farms. This surely will make small holder farmers competitive globally.

The participants thanked AMEND Foundation for bringing Digi-Ext to Ahafo Region. According to Nana Banyin, he believes this training will serve as the needed jump pad to new job opportunities.

Ahafonews will be following the developments of this initiative and see if truly any positive disruptions will be witnessed in Ahafo, creating Jobs.
