Madam Elizabeth King, chairperson of the Women’s Commission of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has congratulated Team Ghana at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

She commended the personal effort of 20-year-old boxer Samuel Takyi that has won the nation an Olympic Bronze medal.

She expressed that the 2020 Games is historical because, in the midst of Covid 19, the Japanese authorities were able to organize an exciting, memorable and successful event.

According to her, Ghanaian sportswomen were not seen much at the Games, excerpt Nadia Eke who was a co flag bearer and did the Triple Jump as well as young swimmer, Unilez Takyi.

She advised Ghanaian females to take sports serious, so that they can also be in the picture.

Madam King a retired Ghana Prisons Officer who played hockey to the highest level, and is now a top executive on the international scene said sports can take the youth of Ghana to places, so they should be focused on education and sports.

She advised that preparations for the next Games at Paris in 2024 must begin now.
