The last Akwasidae in 2021 (12th December 2021) has shown that with planning and marketing many more will celebrate this traditional day and could serve as an alternative to christmas if not compete with Christmas in Ashanti Region.

Kudos to Manhyia for a great job done. The last Akwasidae of the year was amazing. It was great. I am happy I witnessed it.

First and foremost I paid homage to Otumfour as tradition demands. After that,
I started the morning by paying homage to some Ahafo Chiefs including the chiefs of Sankore, Goaso and Noberkaw. It was great seeing all the chief and exchanging pleasantries with them. Nana Akwasi Bosompra wished me well and prayed for Odomankoma’s guidance for me.

The Sankore Omanahene also openly welcomed me. I proceeded to also see the chief of Noberkaw who coincidentally is in the Kyidom Fekuo just like Asante Akropong. I also had a good session with Asante Akroponghene, Nana Sarfo Kantanka. The Akroponghene is traditionally my father, as my maternal family belongs to the Akropong Gyase Stool , I was hoping to see the Asante Akropong Gyasehene Dr Osei Kuffour ie Nana Akyerekoh but I missed him. This is what tradition demands, to pay homage to your chiefs and connect with them.

I looked out for Anantahene, my grandfather. Yes my mother’s father is Anantahene so that connection too is there. I also looked out for Kukuom but unfortunately I could not find Nananom. My mother’s half brothers are sons of the Omanhene of Kukuom, they are Ohenemma.

There were so many political figures present to pay their homage with the Vice President also in attendance with his better half H.E. Samira Bawumia.

Witnessing the Overlord of Asanteman in his palanquin on two separate occasions (arrival and departure) in a day was the climax of the day. His traditional dance moves and gestures were imperial. His gaze and demeanor are rare and imbued with charisma of celestial nature. Adorned with ornamental gold and cladded in a bespoke Kente to grace the occasion, Otumfour surely exudes the powerful attributes of Asanteman. Indeed Asanteman is a thriving Kingdom. Rivalled by none and acknowledged by all as evidenced by the
presence of foreign dignitaries from all corners of the globe, including former heads of states, Global Institutions, Diplomatic corps.

Ing Attah Poku was in Swift and effective action and it was great to see that an Engineer was at the helm of affiars on the day. We had a chat and exchanged pleasantries on the day.

To conclude and climax it all, I shared some quality time and had some insightful discussions with the Akyempimhene of Asante Juaben. A great man of wisdom. This Traditional ruler is a Senior from the then JSS and SSS era. Odade3 Nana Yaw Otuo Siribuor is the name in private life and (I am sure he is also Nana Tanoh.),
son of Nana Juabenhene, occupant of the Silver stool.

‘This celebration clearly shows that, Akwasidei when given the prominence by all can be as big as Christmas at least in Ashanti Region’ according to Hon. Ing Kobby Amoa-Mensah.

Congratulations to Asanteman and Ghana.
