A student at the St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi has described as false the claims by the Ashanti Regional Police Command that no student was beaten during the protest in the school.

Students of the school on Monday protested in disagreement to a decision by the Ghana Education Service (GES) communicated by the head of the school not to allow them to go home for the mid-semester break.

Although assault accusations against Police and Military officers sent to the school to restore calm have been denied by the Ashanti Regional Police Command, a third-year student has narrated how she was kicked in the abdomen by a military officer.

“When the military and police entered the school they entered the dormitories and started beating us because we refused to stop screaming. They kicked us on the floor. Some of the colleagues had marks on their bodies and some were also bleeding as a result of the canes we were being beaten with,” a St. Louis 3rd year student said in an interview on Starr FM.

According to her, the denial of the assault by the Police is false because she is a victim of the assault and was kicked in the abdomen by a military officer.

“We were kicked on the floor by the military and police officers. I was kicked in the abdomen by a military officer.

“The police are lying. We were beaten,” she narrated.
