The Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South Constituency, Samuel Ataa Akyea, has asked the newly confirmed chief eecutive for Abuakwa South District, Akosua Asabea Annoh, to serve diligently in ensuring that the development agenda of the district is achieved.
He cautioned her against hearsay and judgement without hearing.
“Have a listening ear, cooperate with the assembly members [and] do not let the President’s trust in you be a mistake.”
The MP pointed out that effective cooperation between DCEs and MPs brings much needed development to communities.
“The development agenda of the municipality would be undermined if there is no synergy between an MP and DCE. The outgoing DCE was good, continue in that regard.”
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the Abuakwa South District was confirmed with a 100 percent votes.
All 35 assembly members voted YES.
She becomes the first female to head the the Abuakwa South Assembly.
In her maiden address, she sought support, unity and sacrifice from the assembly men as she read Presbyterian Hymn 594.
Before the elections, some youth at Apedwa had protested against her nomination.
Their argument was that they needed a nominee from the rest of the big towns rather than Kyebi, where the president’s nominee and, indeed, past nominees hailed from.

Present at the election was the Eastern Region Minister, Seth Acheampong, Regional NADMO boss and NPP organizer Kwame Kodua and other party officials.
