At least three people tragically lost their lives in a collision that occurred in New Koforidua off the Ejisu-Konongo Highway in the Ashanti Region on Monday (29 April).

The accident involved a Nissan Pick-Up bearing registration number GN 1645-21 and a Mitsubishi Fuso Truck registered as GT 8794-W.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which responded swiftly to the scene, the collision caused extensive damage to the Nissan Pick-Up and partial damage to the front of the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck.

The GNFS reported that the road crash, reported to the Konongo Fire Station at 16:30 hours, resulted in one injury and claimed the lives of three individuals. Among the deceased were Michael Obeng, a Ghanaian, and two suspected Indian nationals.

The bodies were transported to the Stewards Morgue for preservation and further investigation.

In a separate incident on the same fateful day, a fuel tanker exploded along the Kumasi-Accra Highway, causing further havoc. The involved tanker, a Man Diesel fuel truck with registration number GS 5343-18, burst into flames.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the GNFS firefighters contained the blaze within minutes, although three individuals sustained injuries during the incident.
