Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr has applauded government’s decision to include some existing but distressed factories in the country to the onedistrict one factory project.

Mr. Baako, some time ago described the policy as a good concept and urged government to concentrate more on the districts as arequirement.

Speaking on Accra-based Metro TV’s Good morning Ghana show, monitored by Adomonline.com, Mr Baako explained he would have been disappointed if the government had included existing factories into the program.

“If this government had not adopted the idea of adding existing distressed companies to this program, I would have said it ishighly irresponsible since the program is about the industrialization of thecountry.”

He further stated that the redesigning of the program is an effort worth commending due to the level of transparency it emulated.

“In government and governance, there is room for redesigning and the best place to do this is the house of parliament. And with this program, it wasn’t treated as a mischief or hidden agenda but was done openly. The minister of trade and industries addressed parliament to explain why government want to add distress factories to 1d1f.”

Mr. Malik Kweku Baako however stated that not all factories can be added to the program due to their different levels of potential but in a way receiving stimulus the ones that have been added have also been given a lifeline to rehabilitate
