Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia continued to build momentum in the Central Region on Thursday, receiving another wave of public support during his tour of Asebu and the three Assin constituencies, Assin South, Assin North, and Assin Central.
Despite Assin Central being the home of NPP flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, the strongest reception for Dr. Bawumia came from Assin South and Assin North, where enthusiastic crowds welcomed him.
In Assin South, led by the constituency’s MP and former Deputy Education Minister Rev. Ntim Fordjour, Dr. Bawumia secured a major endorsement from almost all electoral area coordinators.
A total of 22 out of 25 electoral area coordinators declared their full support for Dr. Bawumia’s flagbearership bid.
According to their spokesperson, the coordinators believe in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities and have decided to back him to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections.
They dismissed claims that Dr. Bawumia caused the NPP’s defeat, arguing that many parliamentary candidates also lost their seats, and questioning why blame should be placed solely on him.
Their declaration adds to the series of endorsements Dr. Bawumia has received across the Central Region as the NPP prepares for its primaries.
