What was supposed to be the happiest day for a young couple turned out to be the bride’s worst nightmare.

The groom, Mohammed Zakari, tragically died in a car accident on his way to his wedding ceremony venue on Sunday, 13 March 2022.

The unfortunate incident occurred at about 1 pm on the Kumasi-Accra highway at Fumesua.

According to police, a Ford Escape with the registration number AS 3222-21, driven by the groom and occupied by four of his friends, lost control and crashed into a ditch.

The groom, 40, died on the spot.

The four other occupants were taken to the KNUST Hospital for treatment.

One of the victims, who suffered a life-threatening injury, was transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for further treatment.

The Ejisu Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) is investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the bride has been in a coma after suffering a traumatic shock.

The deceased was buried according to Islamic customs a few hours after the incident.

This latest accident adds to the weekend’s terrifying carnage on Ghana’s roads, where 17 people lost their lives in three separate accidents over the weekend.
