This is a great day indeed for the people of Brong Ahafo who have been fighting all the time for a separate region. We have been not for tribalistic reasons but to open the way for the development of our region. We felt that we were being left behind. Although our land is flowing with -Milk and Honey – yet economically, socially and educationally, we were left behind the other regions. For instance, with exception of the secondary school at Dormaa- Ahenkro , there is no other secondary school in the whole of Brong- Ahafo Region. We felt that it was only by having a separate region to ourselves that our people could come together and fight for the development of the whole region. Our only objective in the course of our fight was to get equal opportunities for the advancement for all.
A STATEMENT BY THE LATE HON. C. S TAKYI ( then MP for Wenchi East Constituency), on the floor of parliament on March 20, 1959 summarizes the objectives for which the chiefs and people of Bono and Ahafo sought the creation of Brong- Ahafo Region:
As a young Gentleman born in Ahafo Sankore, it’s with much pleasure to eulogize you for the massive contributions and countless efforts you have all your years outside politics and inside politics done to change the lives and impact society positively.
Reckoning on the statement above, it will be detrimental and mind blowing for anyone from the aforementioned regions to overlook your contributions towards the economic, education and social development of the regions .
As a regional Minister of then BA region, your administration lead to the establishment of countless Nursing Training Colleges, SHS, CHPS compounds and Health Centers, Road network , Investor Confidence etc all geared towards the improvement of lives of BA citizens .
As a member of parliament your achievements and accomplishments in rural development is something that is always and will forever be counted among ranks which eventually court the attention of the public leading to your rural development recognition award.
As a proud son of Ahafo – Sankore and a young medical practitioner l choose this day on your birthday to dedicate to you – *MY CONSULTING ROOM SEAT* *FOREVER *, due to the passion and empathy you shown towards my years of training when l least expected.
Your words of encouragement and motivation to the poor is more vital than the cardiac oxygen that nourishes the human body, a synovial tone to the disabled and an optic nerve to the blind in difficult times.
Myself and the countless youth of Ahafo can only wish you well while we hope for the fulfillment of the Lord’s purpose as he is not done with you yet.
