The leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yendi constituency in the Northern Region says it will not be able to organise the Electoral Area Coordinators election following its inability to organise its polling station elections.

This follows chaos and violence which broke out yesterday, Sunday, March 13, 2022, in the constituency, leading to the destruction of party properties.

Party members accused their leaders of not being fair and transparent with the process.

The NPP per its timetable is expected to hold elections for the position of Electoral Area Coordinators before Constituency Executives elections are held next month.

Speaking to Citi News, Constituency Chairman for Yendi, Saddick Nam said; “We should have gone ahead to do coordinators election, but we have not even done the polling stations executive elections. So, we cannot do the Coordinators’ election, unless we want to use another means which will destroy the party.”

“As we speak, my regional rep appointed to come chair for us to compile the register does not even pick my call. We do not have a register to even go on with the election. I plead with national and regional directors to come to our aid before our situation gets worst.”

For the past weeks, the New Patriotic Party’s members in various constituencies have been agitating over polling station elections being conducted ahead of the 2024 elections.

Some complained that some of their executives were hoarding nomination forms, amongst others.
