Gunshots were exchanged at the Yokwa Gas Filling Station at Larteh Junction in the Akwapem North municipality of the Eastern Region on Friday, April 14 about 1:30am.

Information from the Eastern Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, indicate that a night guard of the filling station had to respond to shots from one of the three suspects after a robbery attempt.

One of the suspects was hit in the cross fire while two of his accomplices managed to escape.

The police found the suspect, Ernest Antwi, who was hit, lying 10 metres away from the filling station.

Upon inspection on his body, a wound was found on the upper part of his waist.

He confessed he and the two other accomplices arrived at Asenema-Akwapem in a DV black private car to execute the operation.

A further search by the police in the vicinity revealed drops of blood and pellet holes on a wall as well as two live cartridges.

The suspect, Ernest Antwi, is receiving medical treatment at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital under guard.
