President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has told Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to ensure that there is peace and security in their respective districts and municipalities.

Mr Akufo-Addo said, as chair of the District Security Council (DISEC), they will need to ensure that security arrangements in are in place in their areas to forestall any crime.

Development, he noted, can only take place in a peaceful environment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a four-day capacity training for MMDCEs on Tuesday October 26, Mr Akufo-Addo said “The other important role you play is that you chair the district security council.

“You do not need me to remind you that your most important function is to ensure peace, law and order in your area.

“All our plan will only work there is peace. I advise you to be careful and tactful in managing issues of intelligence and security.”

He further cautioned them against non-performance, saying, that will not wash with him.”

“The argument that you are not aware of or is not responsible for government initiatives in your localities will not wash with me.

“ You have to familiarise yourself with everything whether of your making or not .

“A chief executive who is indifferent and unaware of government activities in his or her area is not a suitable chief executive officer,” he said.
