In the early hours of Wednesday, 22nd June, 2022, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Amenfi East, Hon. Frederick Korankye went into the Adaamanso forest upon a tip-off that people are illegally mining in the forest. Adaamanso forests is one of the oldest and rich reserves Amenfi East can be proud of. On his arrival, he spotted three (3) chanfan machines that confirms that indeed, people were mining in the forest. Unfortunately, the persons involved in this illegality got a tip-off and booted.
Hon. Frederick Korankye is a miner and will support mining but not in our forest reserved and in our river bodies, for that matter, responsible mining.
These steps are measures he is taking in his bid to protect our forest reserves and our water bodies.
