King Faisal goalkeeper, Ibrahim Danlad says he deserves to win the Goalkeeper of the Season award but admitted that it’s a challenge for him to keep working hard.

The Black Satellites goalkeeper was named as the Goalkeeper of the Season at the Ghana Football Awards held over the weekend at the Grand Arena in Accra.

However, the organizers of the award have been criticized for electing the young goalkeeper beating off competition from Black Stars no.1 goalkeeper Richard Ofori and Razak Abalora for the ultimate.

Despite the criticisms, the Asante Kotoko loanee believes he deserves the award.

“Winning Goalkeeper of the year award is no fluke,” he told Kumasi based Opemsou Radio.

“It has been hard work and sacrifice within the year under review.

“Nevertheless, I don’t see it as a success but a challenge to keep on working hard and build myself,” he added.

The 18-year-old was part of the Black Satellites squad that won gold at the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations tournament staged in Mauritania.

Danlad has featured for Ghana at the U17 and U20 level and currently with the senior national team, the Black Stars.
