If “Nyɛ bro” Ain’t Right, So Also Is “Menua” – Afenyo-Markin Slates UEW Vice Chancellor
Member of Parliament for Efutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has lambasted the Vice Chancellor of the University of Winneba (UEW), Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin slammed the Vice Chancellor for dismissing some authorities of the University, following a disciplinary action.
The local President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Dr. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku and Prof. Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Principal of the College of Languages Education were relieved of their duties by the Vice Chancellor for their offences being that they “did not exhaust the internal structures of the University for settling dispute before proceeding to court”, and also for using the “institutional time to go to court without seeking official permission. Without any cause, you initiated legal action against the University – your employer”.
The Efutu MP explained to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM‘s ‘Kokrokoo’ that the Vice Chancellor’s action is not acceptable because he is doing exactly what the former Vice Chancellor of the University did and was dismissed from the school for him (Prof. Afful-Broni) to succeed him.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin wondered why the Vice Chancellor will dismiss Dr. Duku and Prof. Avea Nsoh on the same premises that brought him into position at the University.
Additionally, the NPP MP averred that the current Vice-Chancellor’s actions are ethnocentric in nature.
“I am against that . . . I can’t defend that which is indefensible,” he stated.
To him, he will not side with Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni because he is acting like the former Vice Chancellor whose dismissal the current Vice Chancellor played a vital role in.
