In his quest to ensure that the livestock industry in the country is fully sustained to help to create job opportunities for the youth, the Managing Director of poultry farming company, Bossway Farms Company Limited, Mr. Thomas Adom has stressed the need for government to ensure policies are enforced to archive the sector’s goals.

Speaking to this reporter in an interview, Mr. Adom noted that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has the guidelines and policies that govern the livestock industry.

Mr Adom has lamented that implementation of those policies has been challenging for many years.

He added that failure to create the enabling environment has caused several poultry farms to collapse in the country.

Mr. Adom urges the Ministry to establish a special department where livestock farmers can easily engage the authorities on best possible ways to help the industry grow.

Mr. Adom further urged government to make feeds available at an affordable price, citing, for instance, the scarcity of wheat brand products which has caused the price to go up.

He urges government to cut down the importation of poultry meat and encourage Ghanaians to patronise the locally produced ones.

This he said, would help boost the local production and create more jobs for the youth.

Mr Adom advises his colleague poultry farmers to adopt modern methods to stay in business.
