It’s Now! Not In 2020 To Disband Vigilante Groups – Rev Prof Frimpong-Manso

“If they [NPP and NDC] really want to disband vigilante groups, then it must be now because they cannot do it in 2020,” – the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, Rev Prof Paul Frimpong-Manso has said after expressing worry in the delay of a dialogue to end party militia.

According to him, the services of vigilante groups will be in higher demand in 2020 – “it’s an election year and politicians will use them. There is no way they can denounce them in an election year”.

In an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Rev Prof Frimpong-Manso maintained that members of the Assemblies of God Church will embark on a nationwide protest if the NPP and NDC fail to amicably disband all vigilante groups.

He also wants Ghanaians to reject any political party that fails to disband its vigilante groups ahead of the 2020 election.

Rev Prof Frimpong-Manso however questioned the ‘delay tactics’ by both NPP and NDC to meet and dialogue on how to end political party militia.

“The NDC must at least respect the President’s view and meet with the NPP; if things don’t go as planned then they can call for a mediator. This is an emergency and critical issue; it should be a process so we can end,” he said.
