Farmers Day is a day dedicated to our gallant Farmers in Ghana. This year’s Farmers Day coincided with the World Cup match between Ghana and Uruguay.

Hon Ing Kobby Amoa-Mensah, the NPP 2020 Parliamentary candidate spent the day in Onwe in Asunafo South to celebrate farmers.

He interacted with the farmers and impressed upon them to continue their good works for Mother Ghana.

He also encouraged the general public to get in into farming to reduce our dependence on food imports so as to reduce the heavy reliance in the dollar.

To showcase that we can all be involved, he introduced AMEND Rice which is locally produced in Asunafo South and encouraged more farmers to go into rice farming.

He explained that Asunafo South has a great potential to be a major rice growing area in Ghana to contribute to the socio-economic development of Ghana. For this reason he has personally taken to Rice Production and encouraged others to join this farmer adventure.

The AMEND Rice Growers’ Association is an initiative collating a database of rice farmers with the intent of providing best rice seeds, best farming practices and farming inputs to farmers.

He applauded the NPP government for making a bold decision in agriculture trade policy direction that restricts importation of local rice, a measure he deemed will boost local rice production.
