Man kills 9-month-old baby, wife battles for life after bathing them with acid

29-year-old Philomena Owusu is in critical condition while her 9 months old baby girl died upon arrival at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.

This comes comes after Philomena’s husband, Enock Mensah, 35, bathed both the mother and her baby with acid at Gomoa Pomadze in the Gomoa Central district of the Central region.

Enock, who is currently at large, according to reports, has been fighting his wife before, during and after the pregnancy, a situation the neighbours have described as worrying.

Speaking with Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare, sister to the victim, Portia Owusu, indicates the suspect works in Takoradi, the Western regional capital, and returned to Pomadze to rent a new apartment for the wife and baby since their landlord is ejecting them from their current place of residence.

Upon his arrival, Portia disclosed that a misunderstanding ensued en-route to paying the rent, where Enock returned to the house for the acid to bath his wife and baby.

After rushing both victims to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, the baby girl died while the mother was transferred to the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital.
