For most people to see death stare in your face once is a traumatic encounter . For Kobby Adiyah, aged 34 (a heavy equipment operator), native of Kukuom, he has died twice in the last couple of months.
For what is a normal trip to many, became a nightmare for Kobby on the fateful day of 28th August 2021. He had embarked on a journey from Acherensua to his hometown Kukuom in the Ahafo Region transiting in Goaso. His mission was to visit his family. On that fateful day, the taxi boarded got involved in a serious accident on the Kamirekrom -Kukuom road segment. To the surprise of many, the Taxi involved in the accident was moved away from the accident scene without the police attending to the scene. He sustained severe injuries which have left him less fit for work. A once energetic young man is now plagued with constant body pains, scars and blurred vision.
The driver of the Taxi has failed to even pay him a visit and has also not yet been called by the police for prosecution, for reasons unknown to many.
In his quest to resolve the challenges, he sort for a lawyer in Sunyani. On this fateful Sunday 28th November, he was called to collect some forms sent to him from Sunyani. He got a call from the driver who had the forms. The instruction was for Kobby to go to the driver’s house in Dechem to collect the forms.
Upon reaching the house of the driver, he notified a woman in the house of his mission to the house, To collect forms sent from Sunyani. He sat in silence waiting to be given his forms. It will shock you to note that, whilst sitting innocently waiting, his death was being planned behind the scenes. Why?
Apparently, the woman thought that Kobby was coming to collect phones. Forms and phones. Confusion . Coincidentally someone had sent phones to be collected and the woman thought that Kobby was an imposter who had come to wrongfully claim the phones. Without questioning Kobby, she called on about 12 strong men in Dechem to Brutally lynch Kobby. The state of shock left Kobby dumbfounded until he was rescued when the truth came out. What a world. By the time they stopped lynching him, he had sustained severe beatings including the use of nylon wire for drying lines.
He managed to report to the Goaso Police and the case was called today 1st December 2021 by the courts.
The accused persons failed to present themselves at the court and a warrant has thus been issued for their rest and presentation to the court there after.
The increase in lawlessness in rural Ahafo must be dealt with seriously. In death Kobby has dealt with death on two occasions and escaped. In our interview with The victim, he intimated that he has now become paranoid and is distressed. We have recommended to him to get a counselor to solve these problems.
