The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education Kwasi Kwarteng has warned that persons who try to extort money from parents or candidates in the name of getting them a placement in a Senior High School of their choice will be arrested and punished.

“There is the tendency for people to be exploited when they become desperate for their wards to be admitted into a particular school at all cost. Parents are to note that they are not supposed to pay money to any person to aid in school placement. The Computerized School Selection and Placement Systems (CSSPS) is purely based on merit” he emphasized.

“It is possible for a candidate not to get the school of choice but not possible not to get a school placement. The problem is not the fact that we don’t have schools for them.”

Mr Albert Kwame Mante, a guardian, has complained to 3FM 92.7 his nephew who had aggregate 10 in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) was not given first or second or third choice, rather the 5th.

Kwasi Kwarteng explained, it possible for a candidate not to get all 6 choices but she or he will definitely get a school through ‘Self Placement’. Candidates with grade 6 to 10 are highly possible to get their first three choices. Students may not get their choice of school because they selected boarding and there is no boarding space available in that school.

The spoke person for the Ministry of Education disclosed to Sunrise Morning Show that over 4000 projects in the education sector have been abandoned since former President Kuffour’s time. He stated further that the government is working to ensure the completion of those projects to create more opportunities for students to have access to quality education.

He reiterated the warning that the Education Ministry is collaborating with the security agencies to arrest anyone who tries to extort money from candidates or parents. All complaints on school placement should be forwarded to the Computer School Placement Call Center on 0302987654.

The Ministry of Education on Saturday, March 26 announced that the 2021/2022 Computerized School Selection and Placement Systems (CSSPS) for students into Senior High Schools (SHS).T
