One person is reported dead, seven injured with two in critical condition following a renewed chieftaincy dispute between two factions at kuyoli in the Tatale-Sanguli District of the Northern Region.

It is unclear what triggered the recent clash but sources in Tatale say the two factions have been fighting over who has the right to be the chief of the kuyuli community.

A military deployment stationed around the Kuyuli enclave have since stormed the area to ensure calm.

Speaking to 3news.com on Friday December 19, the Tatale-Sanguli District Police Commander ASP Peter Paul said the situation has been brought under control.

He indicated, the security made up of police and military are engaging the two factions to cease fire.

“We are engaging them to cease fire so the situation is under control” he said

No arrest has since been made.

Meanwhile, one of the victims who is in critical condition has been referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
