Military takeovers, a threats against Democracy and Human Rights.

It must be stated categorically that, irrespective of how badly Alpha Conde misgoverned Guinea, the methodology employed by Mamady Doumbouya is entirely incompetent. It is pitiful to notice how a section of the Guinean civil population have been tolerant in dealing with this menace, and broadly calling for the consolidation of same undemocratic sentiments.

It should be evident to any casual observer that, the advanced nations did not attain their current developmental status in one single generation, therefore the underdeveloped portion of the world, of which Africa and for that matter Guinea is no exception, should have hope for better tomorrow.

I believe that, if the mindset of the citizens of a certain nation becomes sophisticated and advanced for the better, it manifest through the actions and conducts of it’s leaders since the leaders of that nation is born out of same citizenry. We live on a continent where even the educated among us have not started thinking about tomorrow. The entire African audience would need to go through a cognitive revolution to be able to catch up with the Occidental and the Oriental world. Democracy is never the reason for Africa’s predicaments.

Human Rights is an outstanding component of Democracy. The right of humans as applied in Democracies distinguishes it entirely from other ideologies such as communism and Theocracies. It provides equal opportunity for all sound humans to explore and aspire to greatness.

It is good to note that, military rule as well as other ideologies that doesn’t conform with democratic principles always violates Human Rights protocols. For instance, if the legal system of Ghana is based on religious laws or divine guidance, the life and attitude that is observable in most of us today might have been condemned and prohibited. Women of Afghanistan today are hugely marginalized by Taliban principles. It is sinful for Afghan women to work or even get education. You could be the moneyed in Saudi Arabia, but even the eye is not permitted to sight everything it comes across.

Likewise when every democratic constitution is suspended by military takeovers, the Rights of civilians are soiled. The kind of life you live that merry you today in Ghana is policed by this very Democratic Constitution.

A section of Ghanaians are calling for same to happen in Ghana because they think our leaders have deviated from the norm. People advocates that, they are tired of living under the canopy of poor Democratic governance. Yes,is true people still feel comfortable living under theocracies and dictators. On the contrary , remember ignorance on fire is always better than knowledge on ice. Until you taste Democracy, you will never notice it sweetness. I take delight in Democracy.
