The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has hinted that the club will not go to Africa next season after indicating that embarking on the campaign is very costly.

The Porcupine Warriors club in the last three editions of the CAF inter-club competitions has always made an appearance either in the Champions League or the Confederations Cup.

Despite failing to win any of the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup titles, Asante Kotoko have still been presented with the chance to represent Ghana in the continental competitions.

Speaking to Oyerepa FM, club CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah says the club is looking at using monies that would be spent in the Africa campaign to finance infrastructure projects.

“The cost of going to Africa is not easy and if am to tell you the cost involved in going to Africa last year can provide us with an Astroturf at Adako Jachie and double of what we are doing now and many more.

“We must take advantage of that to develop and improve our squad and prepare them to win the league and FA cup next season if possible.

“We also need to develop our infrastructure so we can console ourselves with it,” Nana Yaw Amponsah shared.

With Asante Kotoko set to turn down the opportunity to play in Africa, Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC looks certain to be Ghana’s representatives in the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup competitions respectively.
