Former President John Dramani Mahama has sent his deepest condolences to families who lost their loved ones in the deadly explosion on Thursday afternoon at Apiate, a suburb of gold-mining town Bogoso in the Western Region.

The former Ghana leader prayed for speedy recovery for the injured victims, urging rescuers on the ground to continue working assiduously “to alleviate the damage and suffering in the affected communities”.

His message was captured in a post on Facebook Thursday night.

The post comes after several people were feared dead after a Tarkwa-bound truck carrying explosives for a mining company collided with a motorbike in Abiate.

The town has been rendered non-inhabitable as a result of the disaster.
