The Member of Parliament (MP) for Salaga South Constituency, Hajia Zuweira Ibrahimah, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HBC Prom
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Salaga South Constituency, Hajia Zuweira Ibrahimah, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HBC Promise Ghana, a non-profit organization, to support the education and health needs of her constituents.
Under the agreement, the two parties will work together to create synergies that will foster development through the creation of opportunities for the youth in the areas of education, health, sanitation and hygiene, tourism, among others.
The Office of the Member of Parliament will also provide direction and strategic advice on how the partnership can support job creation at the local level.
Addressing the media, Hajia Zuweira Ibrahimah indicated that the partnership will address the myriads of challenges in the constituency as well as creation of sustainable and decent jobs.
“I made a pledge to my constituents to explore every available avenue to improve the living conditions of my constituents and this is one of such interventions.”
She further stated that her office is in touch with more international organizations to intervene in the area of sanitation.
The CEO of HBC Promise Ghana, Evans Lemont, appealed to stakeholders in the constituency to support the MP to see to the realization of the development areas captured in the MOU.
“I am happy this partnership has been signed to tackle some of the basic challenges in this part of the country and this can only succeed if the various stakeholders show commitment.”
He is optimistic the partnership would also help to improve the ability of women and the youth to take advantage of the jobs and opportunities that will be created to help strengthen a local enabling environment that supported youth employment.
For his part, the Paramount Chief of the Kpembe Traditional Area, Kpembewura Banbagne Ndefeso IV, applauded the MP and HBC Promise Ghana for the partnership.
He, however, expressed concern over the increasing rate of indiscipline amongst the youth and cautioned them against engaging in activities that will derail the developmental drive of the traditional area.
HBC Promise Ghana later donated some teaching and learning materials to the 31st December Women’s Movement Primary School and the East Gonja Municipal Directorate of Education.
The organization has also promised to complete an abandoned six-unit classroom block at the 31st December Women’s Movement Primary School.
