The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will extend the School Feeding Programme to all primary schools from the 2021/22 academic year.

The School Feeding Programme was designed to increase enrollment in schools, especially in rural areas.

In times past, there have been calls on government to expand the programme and extend it to all primary schools, especially schools established in hard to reach areas.

Feeding in school remains a major problem to most parents in rural areas and is also a significant concern to public schools.

It is a crucial disincentive for most guardians in remote communities who plan on sending their wards to school.

But General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, revealed that the government has resolved to extend the intervention to all private schools across the country.

“The next academic year, we are going to make sure that all primary schools in the country enjoy the school feeding programme. This is something that the only New Patriotic Party government can do,” he added on October 2.
He made this revelation while addressing NPP supporters at the Upper West Regional Annual Delegate Conference.
