The First Vice Chair for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Kwabena Senkyire, has petitioned the party’s regional executive committee to summon Manhyia North Youth Organizer Abdul Mumuni Castro for allegedly defaming him on radio.

Mr Senkyire, in his petition, wants the executive committee to take disciplinary action against the constituency executive for allegedly leveling unfounded claims against him.

He stated that “party member who is the Youth Organizer for Manhyia North Abdul Mumuni Castro has misconducted himself in clear breach of the article 4 clause 7 (1) b,g and f of the NPP constitution”.

The petition comes following a radio interview granted by the respondent Abdul Mumuni Castro on Thursday, February 10 on Akoma FM‘s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma where Kwabena Senkyire claimed alleged derogatory remarks were rained him.

According to the petitioner, “Abdul Mumuni Castro on the said date repeatedly mentioned on Akoma FM and I quote ‘Manhyia North Constituency problem is Kwabena Senkyire and Kwabena Senkyire is Manhyia North Problem’ which he further alleged that I Kwabena Senkyire has teamed up with the incumbent Member of Parliament Akwasi Konadu to cause problem in the Constituency to the extent that I have even instigated some people to take the party to the supreme court”.

Mr Senkyire is of the view the said allegations have brought the name of the party and his very self into disrepute as enshrined in Article 4 Clause 7 (1g) of the party’s constitution, hence he prays disciplinary process be triggered to investigate the petition.
