Pollster Ben Ephson has said former President John Dramani Mahama should not underestimate the power of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor in the upcoming flagbearer elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) even though he has not declared his intention yet.

He warns the former President of the notion that Dr. Duffuor will not make any impact in the flagbearership race does so at his own risk.

“If no one comes, maybe am sure he was expecting that there would be no challenge…Dr. Duffuor will worry him, he will worry him small,” he noted.

As to whether or not Dr. Duffuor could win the contest, he said that would depend on his strength in the party, especially the delegates.

“It is not determined by media men, but it’s the one whose supporters are elected as delegates, they will make headway.

“So by now, if you are presidential candidate aspirant and you are not helping people, if they are elected as delegates, then you are pouring sand into your gari,” he told Omanhene Adu Boakye on Kesben television’s Maakye program.

The former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and former Minister of Finance during the Late Prof. Atta Mills era, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor was few weeks ago seen in a viral video encouraging some party grassroot members to get involved in the reorganization of the party.

Many have interpreted the video to mean a subtle announcement of his intentions to contest the party’s former flagbearer.

Even though some NDC members have criticized him for neglecting the party, Mr. Ephson thinks rumors of his intention must not be taken lightly since it could disturb the former President who is largely known to be staging a come-back in 2024.
