Fire has gutted six rooms in a compound house, including some stores attached to the building at Aboabo, a suburb of Tamale.

The fire, which began in the early hours of Sunday destroyed clothes, food items and an undisclosed amount of money.

The timely intervention by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service prevented the fire from spreading to other rooms.

Speaking to the media, the Northern Regional Acting Public Relations Officer for the GNFS, ADO grade II, Baba Hudu, said the Service is yet to ascertain the cause of the fire.

“The whole place was engulfed in the fire, so what we needed to do was to ensure that the fire did not spread to adjacent buildings.”

He generally felt his team had done a good job, under the circumstances.

“The whole house contains about 11 rooms and five stores, and only six rooms were affected which shows that our men were able to do justice to the fire,” he said.
