We Will Leave If Jose Mourinho Returns To Real Madrid – Players

Jose Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid will shatter an already splintered squad with several senior players saying privately they will leave in the summer if he arrives.

Captain Sergio Ramos fought with Mourinho when he coached the club between 2010-2013 and has already taken on President Florentino Perez over plans to bring him back.

Ramos will push for a move this summer when he will be one year from the end of his contract. Despite the fact that Mourinho courted Gareth Bale in 2017 when he was at Manchester United the Welshman is another believed not to welcome the managerial change.

And two other veterans from Mourinho’s last spell in charge, Marcelo and Karim Benzema have also opposed the idea.

However, Perez has told the players they will have no voice in the appointment.

He is expected to meet with his club directors on Monday to take a final decision on putting Mourinho in charge of the team with immediate effect. The 56-year-old coach, and his staff, was paid £19.6m when he was sacked by Manchester United in December.

His new Madrid contract would be a three-year deal worth £17m making him the second-highest paid coach in Spain behind Diego Simeone who earns £20m.

As well as the animosity towards his appointment Mourinho would also be walking into an ugly battle between Spain captain Isco and Real Madrid.

The club have opened a disciplinary procedure against the midfielder for refusing to attend a team meeting before the embarrassing Champions League defeat by Ajax last week and refusing to take the team bus to the stadium.

Despite a major injury crisis Isco was completely left out of Saturday’s trip to Valladolid.
