On Saturday, the 28th day of May 2022, the New Patriotic Party held our Extraordinary Delegates Congress at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to decide on who leads the Ashanti regional party for the next 4 years. Thankfully, this was successfully replicated across the country over a period of 3 days.

As enshrined in the party’s constitution, the right to decide on who leads the party is vested in the delegates, the highest decision body at such levels. And once they have spoken, it is binding on all forward-looking patriots to respect it.

To all those who won, and have thus being officially elected, I extend my deep-seated congratulations to you. The trust reposed in you places bigger responsibilities on your shoulders. I can only urge you to justify this with excellent outputs.

To all those who contested but could not make it this time, I say good luck to you. The party appreciates such high spirits to serve. The decision confirms ‘not this time’, but it does not say ‘never ever again’. In actual fact, you are the reason the NPP could boast that ‘We have the men’.

And to all of us in the Dankwah-Busia-Dombo fraternity, the work has just began. The battle which lies ahead in 2024 would be fought on a bigger platform, and in a bigger space, that would require more hands than the few that supported us inside our conference venues. What this means is that, to be able to win the general elections, we must bury any differences and resolve to come together sooner rather than later. That, certainly, would make us stronger and better focused on our collective pursuit.

Let’s celebrate together because it is the NPP that came out victorious on the day. Let us remind ourselves that our goal is to ensure our great party, the NPP, stays in power beyond January 7, 2025, so as to continue such programs and policies that would land mother Ghana on the good path we all aspire to see.

Until we get there, let’s stay focused!!!
