MP fulfills 2024 campaign promise with 30 community boreholes set for completion by April 2025
In a landmark move to tackle persistent water challenges, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tano North Constituency, Dr. Gideon Boako, has officially commenced an ambitious borehole drilling initiative across 30 communities. The project, which began today, February 27, 2025, aims to provide sustainable access to clean water through the installation of both mechanized boreholes and handpump systems, fulfilling a critical pledge made during his 2024 election campaign.
Speaking to AhafoNews.com, Dr. Boako emphasized the urgency of the intervention, stating, “Access to safe water is not just a necessity, it is a fundamental right that preserves human dignity and safeguards health. These projects will directly address the struggles faced by our communities and ensure no family is left behind.” The initiative targets rural and underserved areas where residents have historically relied on unsafe water sources, contributing to health risks and economic setbacks.
The MP’s office confirmed that all 30 boreholes are slated for completion within two months, with contractors mobilized to fast-track implementation. Dr. Boako’s initiative has been met with widespread optimism. Some residents remarked, “This is the leadership we voted for. For years, our women and children trekked miles for water. Today, hope has arrived.”
The project aligns with broader efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on clean water and sanitation, positioning Tano North as a model for grassroots-driven development.
Dr. Boako has urged constituents to support the initiative and uphold unity to ensure its success. “This is our collective victory. Let us pray for its timely completion and advocate for more partnerships to replicate such projects,” he added.
