The Member of Parliament for Sissala West, Mohammed Adam Sukparu, has said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have failed to deliver on their mandate to ensure a buoyant economy.

In his view, they have failed to tackle what he describes as the sinking economy, as well as the increasing rate of youth unemployment despite available resources.

Mr Adam Sukparu also highlighted the high rate of borrowing by the administration with nothing to show for.

He said these in reaction to the public lecture delivered by the Vice President on digitalisation in Accra on Tuesday November 2.

Dr. Bawumia during the lecture said among other things that they are going to create a link between the Births and Deaths Registry, the Ghana Health Service, the Ghana Statistical Service, the Immigration Service, the police and the National Identification Authority.

“Every newborn will within a month be issued with a national ID number,” the Vice President said.

“It is possible to be born in Ghana, live a full life, die, and be buried, and there would be no trace of you on any documentation that you ever lived and died in this country,” he added.

But speaking to journalists in reaction to the Vice President’s lecture, the Sissala West Lawmaker noted that Dr Bawmiah has shifted from economy to now be talking about digitalization.

This, he said, smacks of admission of failure on the part of the second gentleman of the land.

“This particular lecture is something that I cannot make a head or tail out of it. Dr Bawumia is struggling to redeem his credibility, he is suffering from credibility crisis,” he stressed.

He added “when they were in opposition, they say they will not borrow but today, they have borrowed more than any government since independence.”

“What explanation can President Akufo Addo-Bawumia administration offer for failing to decisively tackle the sinking economy, insecurity, increasing youth unemployment in the country, despite the huge resources at their disposal?” Sukparu quizzed.
