The Circuit Court has ordered the Prosecution to release Shatta Wale’s mobile phones to him.
The court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Essandoh made the order on Tuesday November 9 after his lawyer Jerry Avenorgbo prayed the court to order the prosecution to release the phones to him.
The trial judge ruled that “it is not the work of the defence to help the prosecution to do their case.”
According to the court, “after all, the accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.”
Shatta is facing charges of publication of false news after allegedly orchestrating a fake gun attack on the life of the award-winning artiste on Monday, October 18.
It had followed a prophecy by one Bishop Stephen Kwesi Appiah, popularly known as Jesus Ahuofe, who had said the musician will die under same circumstances as South African Reggae sensation Lucky Dube. He was shot dead in his Rosettenville home on October 18, 2007.
The man of God has since been arrested and granted bail.
The case of Shata’s other colleague musician, Samuel Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal has been adjourned to December 7.
Medikal was picked up by personnel from the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service for allegedly brandishing a gun on social media.
