Election Loss a Chance to Rebuild and Strategize, Says Former MASLOC Boss to NPP
Mr. Kwabena Asamoah, former Deputy CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to treat its 2024 electoral defeat as a pivotal moment for renewal and unity ahead of the 2028 general elections. The appeal was made during a charged address to party faithful at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Speaking at a general meeting and refreshers orientation for the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), Mr. Asamoah a patron of the Free SHS Graduates’ Association and First-time Voters urged NPP members to channel their disappointment into introspection and strategic realignment. The event, held at KNUST’s Law Auditorium, saw attendance from senior party figures, including former appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration.
Known widely as Obidombie, the former MASLOC deputy chief acknowledged the sting of the NPP’s loss but framed it as a catalyst for growth. “This is not the time to surrender. It is the time to unite, reflect, and rebuild. Let go of bitterness, forgive one another, and focus on crafting a winning strategy,” he declared to cheers from the crowd.
Emphasizing the critical role of youth engagement, Mr. Asamoah singled out TESCON members as key drivers of the party’s resurgence. “Our student wing must lead this charge. The energy and ideas of young voters will shape our path back to power,” he said, while announcing an undisclosed financial donation to bolster TESCON’s activities, a gesture aligning with his reputation as a steadfast supporter of the group.
The former deputy CEO stressed the importance of resilience, urging members to avoid despondency. “Losing an election does not mean the end of our purpose. Let this moment ignite our resolve to return stronger,” he added, calling for grassroots mobilization and inclusive dialogue to address past missteps.
The KNUST gathering marked one of the NPP’s first major post-2024 election events, signaling a push to consolidate its base and recalibrate its messaging. With influential voices like Mr. Asamoah advocating unity and strategic clarity, the party appears focused on transforming its setback into a stepping stone for 2028.
