Gladson Awako on Wednesday scored on his Hearts of Oak debut as the Phobians secured their first win of the Ghana Premier League season.

The midfielder scored with a deflected effort as Hearts beat Elmina Sharks 1-0 at the Nduom Sports Complex to end a run of four league games without victory.

However, Hearts lost their manager Samuel Boadu who was rushed to the hospital before the second half due to illness.

It took Awako, who went AWOL for three months, less than 10 minutes to score on his debut. He replaced Enock Asubonteng in the 64th minute and scored in the 72nd minute.

After the goal, both teams had a man sent off. Sharks were the first to lose a player as Ibrahim Suraj picked a second yellow card in the 76th minute.

Seven minutes later, midfielder Ibrahim Salifu left the field following a second booking.

Hearts have moved from the bottom thanks to the victory. They have three outstanding games, one against sworn rivals Asante Kotoko.
