The government spokesman on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has called on Nation Builders’ Corps (NaBCo) trainees to be patient as the government works to address their grievances.

The trainees have threatened to picket Jubilee House in Accra again if the government refuses to meet demands on recruitment and payment of allowance arrears by the close of the week.

They gathered at Black Star Square last week to present a petition to the government.

“The NaBCo trainees and the NaBCo team should exercise a lot more restraint. They gave this petition to the government on 17 August 2022,” Boakye-Danquah said.

“There is no need for them to give an ultimatum to the government,” he said. “Number two: on their permanent job structure, government has stated that [it is] rolling them on to YouStart.

“Once YouStart starts on 1 September, all NaBCo members who have been part of the government NaBCo scheme have the opportunity to apply for YouStart to get some money and come together and start businesses to be able to advance whatever entrepreneurial work that they want to do,” Boakye-Danquah told Asaase News.
