The Women’s Organizer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) branch in Germany, Mrs Edit Opoku Mensah better known as Nana Ama Serwaa said only women are supposed to go into politics in Ghana.
According to Nana Ama Serwaa, women have the management skills, fellow feeling and compassion needed to properly govern a nation.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Fresh Radio, a Germany-based Ghanaian radio station, Nana Ama Serwaa delineated candidly that :
“Women have compassion. If you don’t have compassion you can’t govern a nation…Women are undoubtedly the caretakers and often take the lead in helping the family adapt to different changing circumstances in the home…So we thought the men would also go out and work so we can also depend on them but we have realised that the men have demystified that perception. When they go out, they come home with nothing -and in today’s politics you have to be ambitious…we have realised that they are not ambitious.
“They don’t know how to communicate well… Politics is about talking .Most governments come to power and do well but they allow certain people to create propaganda against them then they are voted out of office…all because they don’t know how to convince the people ..Women are the rightful persons to go into politics…Politics is about knowing how to speak…Women are the ones who really know how to speak well in the midst of people.”
The NPP’s stalwart told the host P Fresh that, ” Women know how to manage the home…More and more women are contributing to the family’s earnings… Governance is about management…the country has been given to you to manage but it got to a point that those governing the country were embezzling funds to build luxurious houses for their girlfriends…going for loans; and these loans would affect the next generation.”
According to him, because of these misappropriations, women have decided to rise up and wrestle the country from the men in order to manage it well for the future generations.
