Another medal is guaranteed for Ghana in Boxing as Abraham Mensah beats Prasania of Sri Lanka to make the semi-final of the men’s 51-54kg.

Mensah becomes the third boxer to make the semi-finals and irrespective of the semi-final outcome he will win a medal.

Ghanaian sprinter, Joseph Paul Amoah has made the semi-final of the men’s 200m race at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Amoah finished first in Heat 5 with a time of 20.58s. He has been in splendid form this season and has been tipped to make the final of the 200m race when he runs in the semi-finals on Friday.

Amoah’s compatriot, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu unfortunately couldn’t make it to the semifinals despite running a personal best of 21.32s in Heat 2.

The duo are expected to take part in Ghana’s 4x100m relay by teaming up with Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, and Sean Safo-Antwi.

Female high jumpers, Abigail Kwarteng and Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah have qualified to the final of the Women’s High Jump at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Abigail was the best performer in women’s qualifying B and qualified to the final despite not clearing the automatic qualifying height of 1.90m at the Alexander Stadium.

Rose on the other hand recorded a season-best jump of 1:81m to make the semis of the competition.

The duo are expected to compete in the Women’s High Jump final on Saturday.

In table tennis, Derrick Abrefa and Cynthia Kwabi progressed to the next stage of the mixed doubles after drawing a by. But in the men’s doubles Abrefa and Emmanuel Commey were beaten by Australia 3-1.

Ghana’s Para Powerlifter,Emmanuel Nii Tetteh has qualified for the next stage of the competition after lifting 168KG in men’s Para Powerlifting.
