Driver of a truck carrying logs of lumber has been crushed to death in Sankore. Eye witnesses say that the driver’s mate jumped off the truck before the accident occured in Sankore in Asunafo South.

Ahafo news us yet to contact the purported owner of the timber truck who is a well known business man who hails from Sankore.

The accident occured at the 4 Arm junction located mid way of a hill.

This four Arm Junction links is the Sankore – Kwapong – Kokooso-Abuom Junction.

The is reported to have occurred on Tuesday 14th August 2022 around 6:18pm.

The accident which has thrown the community into a state of shock with many happened when a timber truck loaded with logs lost control when negotiating the curve.

There are many Road Safety concerns at this junction and other roads segments in the constituency and Ing. Kobby Amoa-Mensah, the Founder of AMEND Foundation and an independent international Road Safety Consultant when consulted said:

‘This is very good example when a cocktail of risk factors are present and the authorities have turned a blind eye or lack the technical capacity to determine the problem and device pragmatic solutions. If they don’t have the technical capacity, they cannot also refuse to take free technical advice at their doorsteps. When they do this, it is our citizens who suffer.

Although the incident is sad, we are lucky to have minimal casualties. The fatality rate could have been higher if this happened on a Thursday, which is a market day’

Just about 6 weeks ago a couple of accidents occured on roads in Ahafo killing at least 10 people.

According to our research, many unreported fatalities relating to road accidents in rural communities is prevalent in Ahafo Region.
